About Shari
As the daughter of a Royal Canadian Air Force Corporal, Shari travelled extensively as a young girl and lived in Canada’s most beautiful cities, including Halifax, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto.
As a teenager, she discovered a love of the fine arts and went on to graduate from the New York School of Interior Design. She also holds a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Waterloo.
As the head of Interior Motives, Shari enjoyed a successful career in the design field, including developing and teaching an interior decorating course for a local college. She opened Sandcastles in 1996, to use her flair with color, fabrics and space planning in the field of wedding consulting. Since then, Shari has helped countless brides plan their dream weddings. Her position as one of the Toronto area’s foremost wedding planners has earned her the prestigious Wedding Planner Award.
Her business interests now include The Sandcastles Institute of Wedding Planning, which offers certification for wedding planners. As well, Shari spends her days in a Montessori classroom, where she teaches reading and mathematics to young children.
Shari enjoys her hobbies of genealogy, writing, and history, especially French history. She is passionate about the city of Paris, and returns often to her “home away from home.” Shari became a Baroness in 1996, when she married Austrian-born Baron Friedrich (Fred) Beck.
Shari is the mother of a grown daughter, Laura.
